The average voter turn-out achieved in the 2016 municipal elections was 59.12 %. Following the 2016 local government elections, two political parties are represented in the Council. The African National Congress was returned as the majority party with 12 seats. The Democratic Alliance holds 2 seats and the Economic Freedom Fighters has 1 seat.

The African National Congress was returned as the majority party with 12 seats. The Democratic Alliance holds 3 seats. No independent councilor was elected to the Council.
